Tech is like a new pair of shoes. That first day that you buy a new pair of sneaks is awesome. Everything is shining and new. Except for… You put on the shoes. But those new shoes are a little snug. And it’ll take a few days until they feel really good. Until you find that just right fit. The tech in your business is very much the same way.
Screens here. Screens there. Screens screens everywhere. The other day a met with a business that uses AirTame at their office for digital signage and for wireless screen sharing. This business has screens strategically placed throughout their office and as well as in their conference rooms. Outside of just having screens everywhere was this was really--an impressive effort.

What you see is not always what you get. Yesterday I was onboarding a new client. They have one of the nicest offices I have seen. Everything is new. Everything looks clean. New chairs, new desks, glass walls, etc. It’s gorgeous. Their computer room also looked good at first glance. But just underneath their shiny new exterior… Is a punch list of tech mishaps to work through.

I have a friend name Dave who is a doctor. He was telling me about the app he uses at his office. His process goes something like this. He’ll go in and speak with a patient (client). Understand their request. If he’s not sure about the solution he’ll let them know that he needs to step out for a minute. He then goes over to his computer station and inquiries on his medical practice app.
Size matters. In the beginning your business was just you and an idea. If you’re lucky. It was you, an idea, and few of your friends. But then along the journey of your business something happened. We’ll call that success. And so your business grew. In revenue, experience and people. Staff matters. A natural progression of any growing business is adding staff. To be more specific. Adding the right staff. But that topic is for another day. As your company grows and staff is added dynamics change and things quickly become well… Not as they were before. And that’s because there are inflection points as your company grows in size. Knowing what the inflection points are, when they happen, and how to deal with them can help make all the difference as you grow your small business.
