HAND ME A BURGER BRO
I moved to South Florida back in the summer of 2015.
My wife and I like trying new things and burgers fit the bill.
So we set out to find the best burger in South Florida.
The criteria was simple.
Find the best basic burger around.
No weird toppings, no weird flavors, just the best burger, bun and salad (toppings) around.
Franchises don’t count.
Although a few exceptions were made.
Over the course of 6 months, we hit every one of these places.
Yes, I know.
We ate a lot of burgers.
From Boca to Miami this my definitive list of the best burgers in South Florida.
The Top 25 Burgers in South Florida
Le Tub - Hollywood Beach, FL - The hands-down winner. The best burger patty. A great place to hang out on the intercoastal.
Charm City Burger - Deerfield Beach - Tasty and good to the last drop. Tots, Fries or Rings on the side. Brings it all home.
Fuddruckers - Pembroke Pines, FL - This shouldn’t count but I’ve been a Fuddruckers patron since the ’80s. Having on in my backyard… I just had to go.
BSquare Burgers - Fort Lauderdale - Went here on a date and were blown away at how good the burger was. Fun location too.
Landshark Bar & Grill - Hollywood Beach - This is located in the Margaritaville Resort. Burgers only come well done. But for a hotel burger. This is one tasty burger. And be sure to get a Margarita on the side.
Burgers & Shakes - Miami Beach Location. Yes, location makes a difference. This is the one to go to. Maybe it’s the sea salt in the air.
Shenanigans - Dania Beach, FL - This is a good old American burger. Staff is nice too. This is a good choice if you’re looking for a laid-back place to have a burger.
RokBrgr - Hallandale, FL - I’ve tried about half of the burgers on the menu here. This is a good burger and cool place. But remember when it comes to burgers less is more.
Tucker Duke's Lunchbox - Deerfield Beach, FL - Lots of people say this is their number 1 number place. It’s a solid burger. It’s just a little too much of a hipster-burger for me.
Shake Shack - Miami, FL - The burger was actually really good. The food was fresh and tasty. This is a crowded location. Having tourists hovering around your table kills the goodness of the burger.
Bobby Flay’s Burger Palace - Miami, FL - Closed Permanently - With the name Bobby Flay on the joint, it had to be good. And it was. Low traffic and a mall location killed this place. But the burger was solid.
Shula Burger - Fort Lauderdale. This location closed but it was great while it lasted. This was the first place we went to with branded buns. There are other locations in South Florida.
Ocean’s 13 - Hollywood Beach, FL - Good burger, right on the beach. Make sure you eat outside. It’s more fun that way.
The Tipsy Boar - Hollywood, FL - Awesome place. Always a good time. Good drinks, good food, good fun. The basic burger is okay. I’d go with the cheeseburger sliders and drink as my recommendation here.
BurgerFi - Hallandale, FL - To be honest, I didn’t know this was a franchise when I ate there the first time. But it’s a really really good burger
Jimbo’s Sandbar - Hollywood, FL - This is a restaurant and bar on the intercoastal. The burger is good and you get to wave at boats as they go by.
Steak n’ Shake - This is another franchise. Didn’t know that it was. It’s a 50’s diner, sit down burger place. This is actually a really good cheap burger.
Cheeseburger Baby - South Beach - This place is a dump. But it’s got a character and charm that make it fun. The burger was surprisingly good. To boot, the chef sang along to every song that came on. BTW—This one ranks much higher on the wife’s list.
Dairy Belle - Dania Beach, FL - The burger is just okay. French fries are awesome. Canned soda. You can always have some ice cream for dessert.
Checkers Drive-in - I know this line is getting old. But give me a break. I’m from California. We don’t have Checkers. This is the best franchise cheap burger in town other than Steak n’ Shake. And Checker’s is faster.
Jack’s Diner - Hollywood, FL - Staff is super nice. Food was super hot. Once the burger cooled down it was pretty good.
Burger 21 - Davie, FL - Stopped in here to try a burger. It was good. But not great.
Char-Hut - Davie, FL. - Lots of people said this burger would rank high, but it came up shy of the mark.
Flannigans - Hollywood, FL - It’s a toss-up. Depends on what day you go on and what cook you get. Most of the time the burger is meh.
Quickies Burgers & Wings - Hollywood, FL - This is a love it or leave it kind of place. I’m in the leave it category. The burger was tasteless and dry. They’re opening a new one in Dania Beach.
When we couldn’t find a burger we’d hit some of the good old reliables like the following
The Habit Burger - My current favorite burger.
Five Guys - Always dependable and won’t let you down.
IHOP - Yep, dem burgers are good.
