Don't Buy Antivirus Software

Antivirus software is dead.

What used to be a huge global market of antivirus software vendors like McAfee, Symantec and others is now down to a few players.

The leftovers.

I’m sure I’m going to get a lot of flack for this.

Especially from those who work in the tech space.

But here it goes.

Antivirus software is dead.

Kaput.

With the rise Microsoft Windows 10, Windows Defender, SmartScreen and the other tools included in Microsoft Windows 10 the antivirus market is dead.

By this I simply mean that you don’t need to buy antivirus software anymore.

Why?

Well, because it’s included with your Windows 10 operating system.

You see, Microsoft started out years ago trying to figure out how to make the Windows operating system more secure.

They came out with Windows Defender.

It was designed to help with some basic threats while they figured out what else was needed.

With their massive footprint and being the makers of the world's most popular operating system they now have all the resources necessary to build the ultimate antivirus engine.

Have they gotten there yet?

They’re dang close.

Close enough for me to say.

You don’t need to buy antivirus software anymore.

In recent tests Microsoft Windows Defender Antivirus software ranks amongst the best antivirus software out there today.

So yeah, if you ask me.

I say the antivirus software market is dead.

Microsoft’s got this one.

Tech vendors.

It’s time to go invent something else.
