But we're never gonna survive, unless
We get a little crazy
I was having a conversation yesterday with a friend.
He's facing a challenge with growing his business.
He wants to get bigger but he's kind of stuck.
One of the challenges my friend has is that he wants to understand everything.
Everything needs to be in line.
Everything needs to be in order.
And everything needs to make sense to him.
It’s almost as if everything needs to be perfect for him to act.
He was open to some feedback and so I shared the following.
To grow and grow big you’re going to need to break your own rules.
You’re going to need to get a little crazy.
And last but not least.
You’re going to need to be okay with that.
He shrugged and said.
That doesn’t make sense.
And so I explained again.
And then I explained again.
And then finally he said...
My bottom line is this!
And then laid out his level of willingness.
Obviously he wasn’t willing get a little crazy.
And while he was willing to make some effort to improve his situation—the lines he’s drawn will make it difficult to grow.
The reason I share the story is because many people are in this situation at times, including myself.
We draw lines around our dreams and expectations.
We attempt to craft a perfect plan.
We want everything to go our way.
And sometimes we’re even foolish enough to think that things will go exactly our way.
But the reality is, that if you want to grow.
And you want to grow big.
You’re going to have to get a little crazy.
You’ve got to let go just long enough for good things to happen.
And if you do.
Good things will happen.
