You would think with the title of naughty or nice that this would be a Christmas post.
But it's not.
Yesterday I met with a new client's former IT provider.
We met at the client’s office to do a hand off.
This is typical when switching to a new company.
The gentlemen was nicely dressed and super friendly.
What was interesting was that this gentleman knew everyone's name in the office.
He knew something personal about everyone in the office.
He asked people about their spouses, their kids, and other details about their lives as people walked by our meeting.
Quite frankly this guy generally seemed to be a super nice guy.
He tried very hard to be everybody's best friend there.
It was even difficult for the owner of the company to terminate his contract with this guy because this guy was so friendly.
On the flip side.
The technical misdeeds being done in this environment were nuts!
I don't even want to get into some of the things I found.
The point is sometimes someone’s friendliness masks their inabilities and misdeeds.
You could call this a wolf in sheep's clothing scenario.
I like working with nice people as much as the next guy.
But at the end of the day you have to have the chops to back it up.
I'm glad we're able to help this client fix the wrongs in his environment.
Please don't feed the wolves.
