Computer operating systems can be forgiving to a fault.
With that said, there are many misdeeds that can be performed on an operating system and it will still keep running.
Probably the most forgiving operating system is macOS.
You can pretty much do anything to it and macOS will keep running.
Microsoft windows to a certain extent will also forgive your many computing misdeeds.
So we're at a new client yesterday starting the on boarding process and we begin to notice some of these so called misdeeds.
Much of what we see is what are known as - sins of omission.
Meaning, the guy who set the stuff up didn't really know what he was doing.
Which begs the question… How do you know someone is doing something right?
With tech many times it's hard to tell.
The forgiving nature of these systems can mask some pretty big issues.
If your Spidey sense is going off right now. It may be time to have a come to Jesus talk with your IT guy.
Small deviations can cause big problems.
Vendors such as Microsoft provide best practice articles on how things should be done to obtain optimal performance.
Just because people are doing the best they can doesn't mean they're doing it right.
We have our work cut out with for us with this new client
But the good thing about tech is that all things can be fixed or made new again.
Get your tech right. Amen.
